Snake Symbolism & Meaning

snake symbolism & meaning 1200x630

It is not unusual for folks to seek out Snake symbolism and meaning when you need to heal or transform your life in some manner that improves the overall quality of life.

Think of Greek tales of Asclepius, the God of medicine. His power tool is a staff with two Snakes entwined (the Caduceus). If you’re working on becoming a Light Healer (for people, animals, or the earth), this is an excellent symbol to embrace for honoring Snake. This association between Snakes and healing is also found in the myths of the God Hermes, who is also associated with this creature. Even the stories of Medusa having the power to turn men to stone may reflect the shift from ancient cultures devoted to the Divine Feminine to the spread of more patriarchal societies.

Thus, rather than Medusa- who is also a healer and powerful figure- bearing an association with these important gifts, we now think of her as monstrous. This mythology also implies, much like Snake medicine, that there is something both hideous and beautiful and transformative about the process of working through illness to restore health and change.

Even in modern societies, the medical community still uses the Caduceus as a universal sign of healing. Some speculate that Snakes became associated with healing and healers because of the venom and toxic effects of snakebites. It is still the case today that many modern medicines can be toxic in the wrong quantities or if taken the wrong way. It’s easy to imagine that in ancient times, people observed the severity of being bitten by a Snake. If a Snakebite didn’t kill someone, it must genuinely have seemed like the ordeal made the afflicted person stronger. Thus, we can understand how this experience, for those who were lucky enough to survive, may have given the earliest understanding of exposure and immunity in small doses.

Even in modern times, Snake helps us appreciate the significant lesson that anything- even something that is healing- taken to the extreme can become toxic. That which can heal can also kill, which can be one of Snake’s reminders to modern people, especially modern healers.

Because the Snake moves along the ground, many connect this creature to the Earth’s most primal energy and the force of creation itself. Additionally, the Earth element aspect of Snake reminds us to keep one foot on the ground even when exploring Spiritual pursuits.

For most of history, it was believed that Snakes could not hear because they don’t seem to have any ears. This is a common misconception. For these creatures, a mechanism in their jaws helps them perceive sound through vibrations.
Because Snakes can occupy various bodies of water, including lakes and rivers, and the ground, snakes can also be associated with the element of Water and the mysterious depths of the subconscious. This connection between Snake and deeper wisdom is also echoed in the Greek stories of Apollo, the God of, among other things, prophecy. Snake is associated with Apollo and is believed to give the gift of prophecy by whispering in your ears while you sleep.
There are underlying themes in Snake symbolism and meaning, and one is definitely personal growth. Snakes shed their skin as they grow, so ask yourself – what do you need to shake off to expand your horizons?

Snake speaks heavily of old, outmoded ways of thinking and living that will hold you back until you’re ready for release. Once you do, the Snake’s metamorphosis process can begin within and without. The only caution is that the way in which you use your time and energy matters in this journey. Apply yourself to noble aspirations that provide balance and substance, and raise vibrational frequencies in your aura.

Snake Spirit is also a guide for Spiritual renewal. If you’re thinking of taking a new path but hesitate, Snake supports your efforts. Snake may also warn of moving too fast into something that may not be right for you. Move slowly. In nature, the Snake’s tongue is one of the most developed sensory organs. It gathers a great deal of information quickly so Snake stays out of harm’s way. Let that refined sense of “smell” direct you toward the best choice.

Snake Spirit Animal

snake spirit animal 1200x630

When Snake starts appearing as a Spirit Animal and Guide, it is time to cast away illusions, unhealthy beliefs, and unreasonable expectations, be they emotional, physical, or Spiritual. The only way to wholeness is by walking in truth and living each moment to its fullness.

You may need to give up the “would haves,” “could haves,” and “should haves” and focus on NOW.

Several cultures, including Celtic, Indian, and the Ancient Greeks, felt the Snake embodied sexuality. It’s not surprising then that Snake Spirit may help you when you struggle with your passions and pleasures and experiencing them wisely, without guilt.

The Snake Spirit Animal opens Chakras, particularly the Base Chakra, so that you can understand and embrace sacred sensuality in body and Spirit. This path to energetic opening is called a “Kundalini Awakening”.

Kundalini Awakenings are described as powerful transformative experiences. The Chakras are intentionally activated, using a combination of Yogic and breathing techniques. As the Chakras become more efficient and move energy through the body, the image of a Snake unfurling their body and moving up the spine helps to further this dramatic transformation process.

In fact, it is also believed that when you dream about Snake, you are experiencing a Kundalini Awakening without even trying. This is a good time to seek guidance from an Elder for setting boundaries and maintaining them in a healthy way.

Though people seek Kundalini Awakening as a means to further evolve on their path, the journey is not all bliss and happiness. Such awakenings are associated with deep healing and purging old traumas and wounds. Thus, Snake Spirit Animal symbolism and meaning can be associated with the growing pains and our deeper fears of really letting go of the past so we can experience rebirth and awakening.

One of the most potent lessons from Snake Spirit is that of the cycle of life, death, and rebirth. Note this may not be literal (situations, relationships, etc. have these elements). No matter the circumstance, let Snake Spirit Animal guide you through this mystery. Keep a journal of your journey toward transformation.

Remember, though, Snake sheds their entire skin, they re-emerge whole. Snake Spirit Animal’s meaning can help you glide gracefully through even the most harrowing experiences.

Snakes are terrifying to most folks. But why? Snakes are primordial creatures and, so, stir ancient memories housed in our DNA. Snake energy causes us to consider deep, resounding questions. This can rock your world.

When Snake slithers in as your Spirit Animal, things are about to get really “real.” Don’t be afraid. Snake medicine can help you. Snake Spirit Animal’s meaning may relate to an upcoming transformation or major rebirth in process, preceded by releasing past fears.

Snake Totem Animal

People born with a Snake Totem are constantly changing themselves or the circumstances around them. Between those efforts, they’re typically content to bask in the sunshine of life! The only time they strike out is when startled or feel they (or someone they know) are in danger.

With Snake as your Totem Animal, it’s vital you stay close to the earth. You may find yourself gardening, rock hunting, or walking through the green forest with all your senses open. This is the perfect time to connect with your Higher Self, Devas, Angels, and the Divine. These are all fantastic locations for healing meditations and honing your natural skills.

If Snake is your Totem, you can really hold a group’s attention with your charisma and poise. Like the Snake, you are flexible and able to shift your path verbally and physically as situations dictate.

When born with Snake as your Totem Animal, messages from other worlds can become clear to you as each of your 6 senses become more finely attuned and powerful.

Snake Power Animal

Shamans and Lightworkers often see Snake as a guide for Astral Travel and trance work. If you are considering exploring out-of-body experiences, Snake is a powerful ally. Snake can also guide you in other realms so your Spirit doesn’t stray.

Snake’s meaning is highly spiritual and can correlate with journeys into different realms. Your inner Snake embodies the power of change and transformation.

Invoke Snake as a Power Animal when you’re looking to grow wise. Snake is an ancient symbol of wisdom, growth, and working with the creature that will help you expand your mind. Snake is also an excellent aid when you’re looking to gain mastery of esoteric teachings.

Just remember, when you open yourself to Snake Energies, you also open yourself to changes that eventually manifest in Spiritual renewal. The changes you’ll endure are not always simple or without emotional pain, but once you conquer the challenges you’ll face, that’s the moment true healing begins.

Spiritual Meaning of Snake

Spiritual Meaning of Snake 1200x630

Snake symbolism is prevalent across many cultures. Though cultures vary in assigning positive or negative associations to Snake, a few constant themes prevail.

Snakes are associated with healing, but healing can cause discomfort. Spiritually speaking, Snake comes to you when it’s time to rip the bandaid off or go through a transformative process that may be painful at first but leads to greater healing.

Snake can denote your path as a healer who must undergo trials and tribulations first. Perhaps your Wounded Healer energy is signaled by the appearance of Snake.

What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, so Snake may also be associated with trial by fire and ordeals that shape you and mold you into the strong person you were destined to be.

When Snake appears, you may have to shed your skin completely and start fresh. Spiritually, the Snake is associated with renewal, rebirth, transformation, and infinity. The Greek Ouroboros symbol of a Snake eating its tail can signify infinity and rebirth. Connectivity and continuity of life are also signified by Snake.

Some people associate Snakes with witchcraft and witches, and it is said the Ukrainian word for “witch” is similar to the word for Snake.

In some African stories, there are tales of a Snake who can reform after being cut into pieces, thus reaffirming the association between Snakes and rebirth and regeneration.

Since Snake resembles a phallus, the association with sexuality, temptation, fertility, and seduction can also be part of Snake’s spiritual meaning. Sacred sexuality, such as Kundalini and Tantra, have connections with Snakes as well.

When you are called to face your fears, think of power in a new way, and conjure up your own deeper reserves. Such action follows a spiritual path related to Snake. This is also true when you are called to embark on a path of transformation and initiation.

Snake Dreams

Snake Dreams 1200x630
What do Snakes symbolize in dreams?

Snakes in dreams often deal with our subconscious mind, which houses a lot of dynamic information that we often hide from ourselves. During your dream, Snake may reveal issues or struggles that you’ve overlooked and need to see in the light of day in order to move forward. There are other meanings for Snake in dreams that are more situational – like being bitten, which could mean you’re exposing yourself to a toxic situation.

The fact that research shows that Snake is the third most common subject of dreams- coming in after dogs and pregnancy- speaks to the primal relationship humans have with this special creature. While Snakes haunt the dreams of many who fear this guide- and perhaps have misgivings about the subconscious message they’ve been denying regarding their own transformation- not all Snake dreams are unpleasant.

There are many facets to interpreting dreams about Snakes. If your cultural view associates Snake with negativity, the dream may connote enemies or temptation as a warning as well.

For instance, some people believe a dream of a Black Snake on your left-hand side is an ill omen, portending tragedy. Some believe that if you dream of a Snake, it means you are experiencing a powerful Kundalini Awakening.

Snake Native American Symbolism

Snake Native American Symbolism 1200x630
What do Snakes symbolize in Native culture?

Snake Spirit has divergent symbolism in Native American tribes ranging from a huge monster that swallowed people in one gulp to the far more positive meaning of fertility (Pueblos) and rebirth (Ojibwa). In part, this is because Native American culture is not monolithic, just as various regions in any nation can have significant variances among different specific groups and localities. Remember that there are groupings of Native American people within various tribes, so there are definitive cultural differences from one group to the next.

The Hopi have a Snake Society. Snake meaning and symbolism are much more positive in this cultural tradition than in other Native cultures. One story from the Hopi tribe tells us of a winged Snake that communicates with the Earth Element. The association between Snakes and the Earth in this culture is so strong this creature is actually viewed as a symbolic umbilical cord between humans and the Earth. To honor this Spirit, they have an annual dance that offers Snakes to the serpent, making prayers for the health and well-being of the tribe. Here and in several other North American tribes, Sneak is a rain-bringer. In other Native communities, Snake is also associated with speed, lightning, and transformation.

The Anishinabe Tribes, which encompass a range of people including the Chippewa, Algonquin, Ojibwe, Ottawa, Mississauga, and Nipissing as well as Potawatomi and some Oji-Cree, the view of Snakes is that they are creatures which are both powerful but also dangerous. The association has less to do with seeing Snake as bad or evil and more as a reminder to respect Snake’s power and not mistreat or take them for granted. If one is bitten by a Snake, it is less a sign of powerful initiation and healing and more a sign that one has committed some taboo behavior.
Modern Navajo people continue to practice their traditions, asserting their cultural beliefs in the present day. A Navajo Zoo in recent times removed a Snake exhibit because of beliefs that watching Snakes eat, shed, or mate would bring negative consequences. Schoolchildren are also advised not to touch Snakes, even as part of their science lesson because they believe doing so will transfer an evil spirit to your body.

Many Native tribes are wary of Snakes, with few exceptions, such as the Pueblo and Ojibwe. People in these tribes see Snake Spirit as a source of abundance and fertility. Nonetheless, this positive association between Snake and growth is not universal in Indigenous culture.

For Cherokee people, snakes are both respected and treated with some hesitation. They understand that Snake is associated with power. In these cultures, dreams of Snakes are thought to be visits from Snake Spirit in ghost form. A Snakebite in dreams is considered as real as a physical Snakebite. In the worldview of the Cherokee, the rattlesnake is considered the chief above all other Snakes.

Snake Meanings in Aztec and Mayan Culture

Snake Meanings in Aztec and Mayan Culture 1200x630
In Aztec tradition, various Gods and Goddesses have Snake forms. This includes Quetzalcoatl, the great feathered Serpent. Quetzalcoatl was the God of the evening star who gave books, corn, and the calendar to humankind.

In both Mayan and Aztec traditions, Snake is both a creature to be feared and also to be respected. They are associated with power, and rebirth, and are generally seen as symbols associated with the Divine.

Some Native Tribes believe Snake symbolism points to hidden enemies, and dreaming of Snake can signify that an adversary is working against you. Snake clans exist in various tribes, including the Hopi, Chippewa, and Creek.

Snake and Serpent Meaning in the Bible

Snake and Serpent Meaning in the Bible 1200x630
Snake symbolism in Christianity is less than flattering. Though the Old Testament story of Adam and Eve is known to those beyond the Judeo-Christian cultures, it nevertheless has made a huge impact on how Snake is perceived.

In Genesis, Snake is symbolic of the Devil. It also crawls on its legs. This story claims Sneak lost its privilege as a penalty for tempting Eve to eat the apple from the Tree of Knowledge and disrupt the order God created in the Garden of Eden.

But we can examine this myth in a few ways. Of course, we have the surface-level narrative in which the Snake represents evil, vice, and temptation. But considering each element of the story, Snake takes on a different connotation.

According to some, especially modern Feminists, the Garden of Eden is emblematic of Patriarchy and the authoritarian view of religious doctrine being intertwined with social norms and power structures.

In other words, God is portrayed as the authoritative figure who allows Adam to be His delegate on Earth and the structures and “rules” of Eden. Lilith, Adam’s first wife, was cast out of Eden for her refusal to obey and be subservient to him.

When viewed in this light, Snake is not evil. Snake encourages Eve to eat the forbidden Apple because it will grant her wisdom. Snake, therefore, becomes a symbol of empowerment and liberation. Yet there is a price to pay. As Gloria Steinem said, “The truth will set you free, but first, it will piss you off.”

Thus, the penalty of Adam and Eve being banished from the Garden of Eden and forced into a life of mortality and mundane struggle is symbolic. The life of ease in the Garden corresponds to the belief that “ignorance is bliss.” By serving as a catalyst for the “downfall” of humanity (if you consider the Garden to be a place of protection and abundance), the Snake is also a catalyst for “awakening. The process of initiation often liberates us, but it also thrusts us out of our comfort zone.

That being said, most direct Biblical references to Snakes associate this animal with deceit, trickery, and treachery. The venom symbolizes temptation that “poisons” the mind or leads people astray.

Jeremiah refers to adversarial people and even nations as Snakes intent on leading the children of God astray. Moses also saw Snake Charmers and, perceiving this as an evil practice, used God’s blessing to protect Israelites from being bitten by Snakes. This reflects the idea that a small amount of the poison can sometimes be the cure (all things in moderation).

Are you confronting authority or claiming your independence? Do you need to break away from a relationship that was comfortable but is also stifling? Are you being called to an awakening that is tumultuous and bittersweet? If so, Snake may appear to shake things up.

Snake meaning in Islam

Snake Meaning in Islam 1200x630
In the Koran, like in the Old Testament, it is reported Moses throws his staff, and it becomes a Snake. Some who follow Islam also believe that Snake is related to Jinn spirits, and this is considered a positive connotation.

In fact, the Koran gives specific instructions not to kill snakes of any kind when you encounter them in the wild. But this book also explains that if a Snake enters your home, you must give it three days of hardship- presumably to try to discourage it from continuing to dwell with you- and if it does not leave, then and only then may you kill the Snake.

In this, the Snake is off-limits, being divinely protected. When Snake shows up, consider if you are being challenged to live and let live, but also on your own terms and with boundaries guiding you.

Snake Celtic Symbolism

Snake Celtic Symbolism 1200x630
The Celts were a Shamanic culture that studied animals as few cultures through history have, and Snakes were among their favorite animal symbols. We see this in their elaborate Celtic Knotwork, their myths, and legends, etc.
Snakes represented graceful travel over any terrain, transformative healing, and a deep connection to the underworld and the heavens. Snake’s behavior helped teach the ancient Celts how to live in sync with nature and, particularly, the seasons.

Because a Snake’s eyes “glaze over” as they shed their skin, the Celtic Snake becomes a symbol of altered states. It is believed that while in that state, Snakes are tapping into all the knowledge there ever has been or will ever be.

In some Celtic lore, Snakes, like Dragons, are associated with guarding treasure. The Celtic people viewed Snake more as an archetypal energy than an actual animal.

Mystery and labyrinthine secrets are emblematic of Snake energy. So is fertility and creation because of Snake’s phallic appearance? The myth of Conchobar includes his mother’s impregnation by a Snake, who is also described as a “Worm” which she swallows, leading her to conceive a child.

Since Celtic people believed Snake originated from under the ground, they associated it with earth wisdom, rebirth, and hidden secrets.

While there were no actual Snakes in Ireland, there are plenty of associations between Snake and Sea-Serpents or Dragons in Celtic Lore.

Snakes in Norse Legends

Jormungandr is the giant Snake from ancient Nordic lore. This Snake is said to guard Midgard, another name for the Earth, and is considered one of Loki’s three children.

The other Gods feared the children of Loki, so Odin dispersed them, throwing Jormungandr into the ocean. But Jormungandr can grow large enough to surround the Earth, head to tail, forming an Ouroboros.

Snake Meanings in Ancient Egypt

Snake Meanings in Ancient Egypt 1200x630
Snakes were also respected in ancient Egypt, particularly the cobra, which often was found on the crowns of the pharaohs. The Snake was also the symbol of the Goddess Wadjet. This was an important symbol in lower Egypt.

The Sun God, Ra, was believed to have been created by a Snake as well, his rebirth seen as the setting and rising sun. For these reasons and more, Snake is associated with divinity, rulership, and power.

If you need a boost of confidence or are looking for a symbol of protection, turn to Snake to help you. You can also work with Snake in meditation and ritual to invite greater empowerment. When you need to stand up for yourself, invite Snake to slither in.

Snake Symbols in Africa

Snake Symbols in Africa 1200x630
African cultures are varied. Yet there are many who believe that Snakes carry a connection to the Ancestors and will not harm these creatures.

In the 18th and 19th centuries, the Dahomey kingdom was located in what is currently Southern Benin. People of this region worshipped Snakes. Their Snake God, Danh, wrapped itself around the world in forming an Ouroboros, which held the Earth together.

In what is now Senegal, Snake was Pangool or Ancestral Spirits. It was believed that the first stage of the afterlife involved transformation into a black Snake before passing on to Jaaniiw, the resting place of good souls.
Let Snake into your life when you need to keep a pulse on events coming on the horizon. Keep your ear low to the ground, and like the Snake, pay attention to vibrations to sense the larger world.

Snake Symbols in India

Snake Symbols in India 1200x630
Snake symbolism in the Far East varies. In Hindu culture, Lord Shiva is depicted with a Black Cobra around His neck. As a result, Hindu people revere the Black Cobra as a sacred animal.

Superstition says rinding a Black Cobra signals a treasure is nearby. Other associations of Snake symbolism include fertility, protection, healing, and regeneration. Snake additionally reflects the transformative powers of death, rebirth, and fertility.

Snakes are also associated with the Goddess Kali and her nature as both powerful and not one to be trifled with. She has destructive traits but can also manifest awakening, female empowerment, and dramatic transformation.

Snake and Serpent Symbolism in Buddhism

For practitioners of Buddhism, Snake is a powerful symbol of protection. According to lore, Buddha was meditating beneath the Bodhi Tree as a storm was beginning. A giant cobra-like Snake called Mucalinda emerged from the roots of the tree. Mucalinda protected Buddha from the storm.

You, too, can invite Snake to work with you as you learn to strengthen your meditation skills. Snake can remind you that you don’t have to be influenced by storms raging around you.

Snake Japanese Culture Meaning & Symbolism

In some areas of Japan, Snake is associated with Ryujin. Snakes are highly symbolic, and it is considered unwise and even taboo to harm or kill a Snake. In Japanese culture, some see Snakes as minor Dragons; they are revered by people who follow Shintoism.

Snake has ties to the element of Water and, in particular, with rivers and the ocean. There is even a story about a Snake woman who lives in a palace at the bottom of the sea. Snake’s ability to shed its skin gives them connotations of youth. Portraits os Snakes imply slyness and adaptability because of their ability to slither into small spaces.

Snake Chinese Culture Meaning & Symbolism

Snake Chinese Culture Meaning & Symbolism 1200x630
In China, Snake is considered a positive talisman against diseases such as heart disease. To the Chinese, Snake represents longevity and good fortune. Snake’s power and the allegoric warning not to underestimate this animal is exemplified in a Chinese legend about a Snake who devours an Elephant.

For some Martial Arts practitioners, Snake symbolism coincides with initiation, power, and strength.

Some Chinese people see Snake as a Creator entity. This belief relates to the Goddess Nuwa, who is part Snake and part human. She made the first humans from clay.

Snake in Chinese Astrology & Zodiac Signs

In the Chinese Animal Zodiac, Snake is like a little brother or cousin to the Dragon. It symbolizes working with herbs, insightfulness, and shrewdness. When the Spring festival arrives, it’s not uncommon to see a Snake around a rabbit in people’s homes and businesses as a charm for prosperity.

People born under the sign of the Snake have charm, wisdom, and clever tongues. If this is your sign, you are likely good with finances, have a keen empathy for others, and have a serious drive for success. On the downside, Snake people can prove jealous, distrustful, and a tad overbearing. Snake people do well in positions where they use their keen minds for problem-solving or philosophy.

Snake and Serpent Mythology

Snake and Serpent Mythology 1200x630

Often symbolic of everlasting life or reincarnation. Also, sometimes are used to depict monsters or beings who challenge the Gods.

Not all depictions of Snakes are monstrous. In some tales, Snake is responsible for healing people or creating the world.

They are also associated with universal conditions or fears, especially in the form of Sea-Serpents. Myths about Snakes who live far beneath the ocean surface represent the power of the subconscious and mysterious aspects of life and death.

The Sea-Serpent may be all that stands between a Hero’s quest being fulfilled or becoming a disaster. In this regard, Snake illustrates ubiquitous challenges and tests that can be life-altering. Snake may also signify a turning point. The hero of a story must either overcome fear or learn from Snake’s cunning ways to move forward. Snake can also be seen as a guardian, adversary, guide, or a symbol of the need to be aware of treachery.

The Rainbow Serpent in Aboriginal Australian Culture

One of several stories of Snakes who helped create the world is the myth of Julunggul. This massive rainbow Snake is found in Aboriginal culture. It is said that human blood fell into a watering hole, and this made Julunggul angry.

He sent a flood reminiscent of the myth of Noah from the Bible. This flood could push all life on earth into the open mouth of Julunggul. But Ant Spirit intervened by biting Julunggul, and the Snake was forced to throw up all he had swallowed.

References to Rainbow Snakes or Serpents are also found in West Africa.

Two Headed Snake

Two Headed Snake 1200x630

You may think Two-Headed Snakes are creatures out of the tales of Medusa or the Phoenix, but these creatures exist on the physical plane. Snakes born with two heads have a genetic condition called bicephaly. These creatures may have actually been the impetus for tales of two-headed Snakes in days gone by.

Though bicephaly or polycephaly can occur in various species of animals, it is more likely to happen in Snakes than in mammals. Yet even then, this is an extremely rare phenomenon. No wonder it must have captured the imaginations of ancient and modern people.

It is often attributed to unusual exposure to toxins or temperature fluctuations and is likely a failure of splitting in the embryo. The two-headed snake represents rebirth, transformation, and polarity within yourself.

When encountering a two-headed Snake, consider whether you have been “of two minds” about something and need to decide. A powerful transformation may require you to combine two different perspectives and integrate opposing views.

Rainbow Serpent

Rainbow Serpents are described in various myths, including that of the Aboriginal serpent Junggul. This creature is also prominent in Western African traditions as well. Usually, the presence of a Rainbow Serpent is related to water in some way.

The elemental connection to water signifies the importance of emotional and psychological depths. The Rainbow Serpent bears a full spectrum of colors. It has ties with treasure, something valuable and rare.

In Aboriginal stories, this Snake has profound power and is both a creator and destroyer. The Rainbow Serpent is a creator figure. It is associated with milestones along the lifespan, including entry into adolescence.

Rainbow Serpent is a symbol of fertility as well. If you encounter a Rainbow Serpent, you may be in for a period of growth. This can come with difficult challenges and growing pains, just like adolescence. Your identity and worldview alter dramatically. Creativity can help you work through this process.

Ouroboros

As mentioned earlier, the Ouroboros is a symbol that dates to antiquity. It is found in both ancient Egypt and Greece. The symbol is that of a Snake eating its tail, forming the shape of a circle.

This is a symbol of life, death, and rebirth. It came about thanks to Snake’s ability to shed its skin. The Ouroboros reminds us all life is eternal and that the phases of creation and destruction are not opposites but part of a continuum.

Caduceus

The Caduceus is recognizable from medical institutions even in modern times. This ancient symbol consists of two snakes wrapped around a staff. The staff often has wings on either side.

The Greek God Hermes has a Caduceus, as does Greco-Roman figure Hermes Trismegistus. Its power is one of healing and magick. It represents divine messengers and well-being.

History reveals the Caduceus in cultures dating back to Mesopotamia. It was then associated with the God Ningishzida, a Deity of Vegetation. It is also associated with the planet, God, and the element Mercury.

The Snakes on the Caduceus represent polarity and wisdom, regeneration, and power. You can use this symbol for healing, protection, and to convey particular messages to the Divine.

Snake Eyes Meaning

Snake Eyes Meaning 1200x630

To refer to someone as having “Snake Eyes” is generally considered an insult. This term is also found in gambling when someone rolls a pair of dice and ends up with both landing on one. The pair of ones is said to resemble the eyes of a Snake and is also considered unlucky.

Since it is associated with a bad play in gambling, the unlucky nature of this term is generalized. To say one “came up Snake eyes” means they took a risk and failed.

Yet if you consider the power of the Snake, you can understand that the eyes of a Snake could also symbolize healing and protection. You may come to appreciate this phrase, or even the symbol of Snake eyes, as having positive connotations.

Serpents in Greek Myths

Snakes in Greek Myths 1200x630

In Greek mythology, Echidna had the form of half woman and half snake. She was believed to have given birth to dragons. Snakes also feature, as mentioned earlier, in the story of Medusa. In this myth, Medusa was a healer before medicine was coopted by patriarchal systems, which would rebrand her as evil.

Snakes whispered in Apollo’s ears, giving him the gift of prophecy. In ancient Crete, the earliest remnants of Goddess worship show a Goddess with a Snake in both uplifted hands.

Dead Snake Symbolism

What does it mean if you encounter a dead Snake? You need to go into a hibernation phase. You may be trying too hard to assert your will in a situation. Snake is a symbol of rebirth, so a dead Snake points to the reincarnation/transformation process in which you may need to “play dead” or let things settle before rushing forward.

You can be getting a signal to lay low and reflect. An inner journey may be required, so take the time to meditate and go inward rather than projecting your ideas outward. This can also signify that you have fulfilled or completed some aspect of your mission and are now free to move forward with greater transformation.

Thank you for this very valuable, insightful information.
I am wondering if you have any insights into seeing a Dead Snake? There was one in the gutter in the front of my house, it was a zurprise to see and can you help me interpret the meaning as it feels significant.
    Thank you Kindly

    • Bernadette King says:

      Hello, Donna;

You are most welcome! So happy you enjoyed reading about Snake energy.

Seeing “dead animals” of any kind can mean so many things. Because there is no such thing as “death”, when interpreting messages from the animal spirit world, it can be really helpful to use “see” “death” as the following:

      • Transmutation
      • Transformation
      • Rebirth
      • Metamorphosis

Since Snake energy is wrapped around ultimate transformation anyway, seeing a “dead” Snake takes that symbolism to a whole new level. Have you been stuck in the gutter? Is it time to transform before it’s too late?

Also, seeing “dead” animals can be a sign that the time has come for that Spirit Animal to transition out of your life and make way for a new animal spirit guide to be your ally.

      Sure hope that helps!

      Stay wild,

      • Mary Beth says:

I have encountered a bull snake twice in 3 days in my awake time. The first encounter was inside my chicken coup. Luckily I walked around to the front to open the people door. I saw a snake in the nest box at the back. I later saw it had eaten all the chicken eggs. The eggs had been eaten regularly over the past three weeks. I didn’t get bit because I didn’t open the small nest box door.
Wildlife Control arrived after an hour but after its meal the snake left. First snake sighting was Monday about 1:30 pm. Today
is Wednesday. I awoke this morning to feel a cold clammy snake’s body sleeping on my neck. I was lying on my back. It was trying to get warm. I didn’t move except to grab the snake and fling it away from me. I got out of bed, thinking it was a dream that had occurred after seeing a snake on Monday. I examined my neck for snake bites, I had not gotten bit. I felt the front of my neck where the snake had been and I could still feel the coldness. So I knew it wasn’t a dream. I looked around my bedroom and found the snake in a laundry basket near my bed. It was full of dirty laundry and I could only see the middle part of the snake’s body, not the head or tail. It was dark brown and tan. I thought it was a rattlesnake. I called Wildlife Control again in a panic. The snake wasn’t moving. The guy said he was an hour away so he sent someone closer. Still took 45 minutes. Then he didn’t bring anything but gloves to handle the snake since he was told it was dead. Then he touched it and reported back to me it wasn’t dead. We scrambled around looking for tongs. He figured out it was a bull snake and was able to pick it up with just his gloves.
I have been quite ill for the last 3 years with back pain and vertigo. In the last 2 months I began dating a boyfriend I dated 25 years ago. Although I am now hyper vigilant and scared to fall asleep, I have a strange confidence from handling the situation well. My boyfriend called me on his lunch break to comfort me because he could feel how upset I was. He had no knowledge of the situation other than ESP. I was grateful that if I was in trouble he would know. My throat feels different, like the snake did something to heal me. My biggest problem now is trying to fall asleep. I am having snake dreams, I am afraid. I know the snake had a message for me. I am a shaman, spending much time in service until the pandemic. Now it is time for me to be physically healed so I can help others again. My time of solitude and introspection is coming to an end. The handler liked the snake and said he was taking it home with him. Any insights you have would be great. I believe it got into the house around my new window air conditioner. There was a gap at the bottom where the duct tape and foam insulation were not completely sealed. I hope I can get some sleep. I was startled awake after a few minutes seeing a snake in a dream.

        • Jenn C says:

Wow. Had to say that first! I’m so sorry they scared you. Snakes can be sneaky. I too, have encountered snakes slithering on my body. I call it a snake massage of the body and mind. Every move they made, I felt it healing me within. If you have a friend with a python or boa, I would recommend laying on the ground in your swimsuit and allowing their chokra to heal your wound(s). If the snake is truly your animal spirit, you will know immediately! Ps. Best massage I’ve ever had.

    • Bethany says:

      Hello there,
Thank you so much for all of your information! I was wondering if you had time to answer a brief question? I was born in the Chinese year of the snake, and my birthday falls under the sign Ophiuchus, or “Serpentarius.” I know some don’t believe in the effects of this particular constellation, but I’m supposed to be in Sagittarius however I can’t be, Jupiter was Retrograde when I was born. My planetary alignment fits into none of the twelve signs. But I used to dream of dragons. When I was a kid snakes would sliver past but never hurt me, I was never frightened. My sisters were though. What does that mean?

      • Bernadette King says:

        Hi, Bethany;

Please accept my apology. I normally respond much faster. I was on a mini vacation and, then, Hurricane Matthew decided to visit me in Florida. 😉

With all the serpent energy surrounding you (dreams, zodiac signs, etc.) it makes perfect sense why you have never been afraid of Snakes – because you ‘are’ a Snake. On my sister-site, BuilingBeautifulSouls.com, you can read all about the Chinese Zodiac Snake.

I’m, also, a Chinese Snake and ever since I was a kid Snakes show up allllll the time. It freaks my family out because they know that there’s likely to be a Snake show up just about everywhere we go! LOL

        Hope that helps!

        Stay wild,
        Bernadette

  2. Rv says:

Thank you for this very valuable, insightful information.
I am wondering if you have you can help me with it, like i want to know any connection in my life like there was a time when i was continuously dreaming about snakes and then after 2 months my mother died due to brain stroke she was perfectly fine suddenly it happened, even some time snake cross in-front of me and if i will cross the rod something terrible will happen and also if some thing bad is going to happen in ,my life i will seeing snakes if not the real one just like movie news any where pls help me with that even some of my family member think i have a snake type image on my back i don’t think it’s real but it looks like ..pls help me with that waiting for your reply.

    • Bernadette King says:

      Hello, Rv!

You are most welcome. And, please accept my condolences on the loss of your mother.

As a person who has always been deathly afraid of Snakes I understand your fears. Also, I have had many, many crazy encounters with Snakes. I’ve had tons of Snake Dreams, one dropped out of a tree onto my head when I was walking on our property, one slithered up my arm when I leaned on the side of a building, and my family and friends will tell you that almost every time I walk outside a Snake is sure to show up!

I used to be very freaked out about this but then I realized what all the Snakes were trying to tell me – that I was supposed to stop trying to hide my psychic medium skills and use them to help people. The minute I did that, Snakes stopped showing up. Now I only see them when a major transition is about to happen.

Maybe you are supposed to look into healing or psychic work. Maybe you are being called to study Shamanism. Some folks think Snakes are always bad omens. I do not think this at all. Like all animal spirit guides they bring important messages to us. Sometimes those messages foretell of difficult times but the difficult time is not caused by Snake – it is only the messenger.

      Hope that helps!

      Stay wild,
      Bernadette

  3. Lynda says:

Seeing snake in my sleep is so scary to me, they’ve never hurt me but am not comfortable with it any advice

    • Bernadette King says:

      Hi, Lynda;

Snake dreams are among the most common dreams and definitely can be some of the scariest dreams. Hopefully, learning about Snake symbolism and meaning can help you interpret and analyze why Snake energy is speaking to you in the dreamstime.

      Stay wild,
      Bernadette

  4. anna says:

This was so right on with me, definitely a snake has been my totem animal through life.I respect snakes but do not like to touch them. However the information you provided is so me. Thank you.

    • Bernadette King says:

      Hello, Anna!

So happy you like the Snake description! Snake people are powerful people so I’ll bet you are doing great things in this world!

  5. George says:

    hi, mine was kinda weird…
i saw too many snakes in my house they were too much that i got scared and i had to burn some
but not all but i saw a green long snake stayed in my house while others left…then i woke up what does that mean.

    • Bernadette King says:

      Hello, George;

When we dream about being in a house – especially if we can identify it as being our own house – it’s a direct reflection of what’s going on inside you. Snakes are all about transformation but they are, also, a very male energy because of their phallic symbolism. Green is the color of abundance and nature. So, maybe it will help if you ask yourself what your feelings are regarding any big changes that might be happening around you at this time.

      Hope that helps.

      Stay wild,
      Bernadette

  6. Patricia says:

Hi Bernadette! This is Patricia again… I reached regarding Bees a few months ago when I got stung multiple times at my X-boyfriends home. Who the very next day he nearly died in a paragliding crash and is STILL in the hospital because of slight brain damage. 🙁 So Friday night I saw a snake in the road, stopped my car and stopped traffic so it could cross the road. I happen to honor & love snakes. It was quite the circus though and happened in my quiet neighborhood. Today while walking with a friend (my x’s – X), yep we are all friends, I saw a snake AGAIN slither right in front of us. She said that was the second time this weekend as well for her to see a snake in her path. So both of us with-in two days, saw snakes. I know there is a message here for sure, do you have any insight dear one? Or should I say “wild one”… 🙂 Thank you for what ever comes up for you around this. Patricia

    • Bernadette King says:

      Hello, Patricia!

Oh my goodness! I’ve thought about you and your boyfriend many times since you originally wrote in. I’m sending tons of healing energy to you all! As you know Snake energy is all about death/rebirth, healing, and transformation. So, my guess is Snake has come to let you know that rebirth is on the way – even if it is taking a little bit longer than everyone is comfortable with. Also, 2 of you saw Snake in 2 days. Loosely translated that could be the Number 22. Maybe take a minute and read about the Numerology meanings of Master Number 22.

Please let us know how your boyfriend is doing. I’m sure all the Wild Ones here at WhatIsMySpiritAnimal.com are holding sacred space for you both and all the families involved.

      Stay wild and much love,
      Bernadette

      • Patricia says:

        Hi Bernadette,
I can’t believe it took me this long to check your response. I walked with my friend again today and thought about you. Thank you for your prayers, for my EX-Boyfriend & his family. We had broken up TWO months before he dropped out of the sky. 🙁 I am still friends with him & his family. Egil, my EX-boyfriend will be needing help for at least a year or more. His brain injury was-is pretty bad. So thank you again for your prayers and thoughts. I WILL LOOK UP #22 FOR SURE. I DON’T DOUBT FOR A SECOND THAT EGIL IS THE ONE AND WILL BE GOING THROUGH A REBIRTH & OF COURSE LOTS OF HEALING. I SENSE YOU ARE RIGHT ON. BLESSINGS & LOVE, PATRICIA

        • Bernadette King says:

          Hello, Patricia;

I’m sure all the Wild Ones here will send tons of healing energy and love to you both!

          Stay wild,
          Bernadette

  7. Ngozichukwu says:

    Good Afternoon Bernadette

I am currently going through a healing process from years of serious neglect and abuse of myself and from those closest to me and had the strangest dream last night. I dreamed that a large snake fell out of my chest and was attempting to bite me although it couldn’t quite catch me. Prior to the snake coming out of my chest, I witnessed a past love of mines walking through my dream without saying anything to me, he just gave me an ominous look as it felt as though he were spying on me before I caught him looking. What are your thoughts about the snake symbolism within my dream?

    • Bernadette King says:

      Hi, Ngozichukwu;

Please accept my apology. I normally respond much faster. I was on a mini vacation and, then, Hurricane Matthew decided to visit me in Florida. 😉

In a day or so I’m putting up an extremely in-depth article about Snake Dreams on my sister-site, BuildingBeautifulSouls.com. As soon as it is up, I’ll put the link here. However, that said, scary as the dream might have been it makes perfect sense to me.

Since you’re working with your heart chakra on trying to heal yourself and come to a place of self-forgiveness and love, Snake is the ultimate healer and symbolizes total transmutation. Your past love was with you during the time of self-neglect/abuse. Since you are moving energies such as his out of your space, maybe you intuitively know he would rather see you held back – not progress because it means you will succeed and surpass him. Chances are that he would not like that.

Though the Snake did try to bite you, I see that as your earthly mind’s way of ‘biting back’ because change is hard. But it sounds like you’re doing great because, ultimately, Snake came from your heart and that means you’re on the right track!

      Hope that helps!

      Stay wild,
      Bernadette

  8. Angela says:

For the last 3 nights I have had dreams of different types of snakes, cobra, boa and last night I had a dream that a tiny garden snake bit me in the arm. What do you suppose these could mean?

    • Bernadette King says:

      Hi, Angela;

Please accept my apology. I normally respond much faster. I was on a mini vacation and, then, Hurricane Matthew decided to visit me in Florida. 😉

If I knew more about what was going on in your life right now I might be able to shed a bit more light on the meaning of your dreams. However, to dream of Snakes three night in a row means bit change is coming. Hope that’s a good thing! That said, hopefully the Snake Symbolism and Meaning article gave you some more insights.

      Hope that helps!

      Stay wild,
      Bernadette

      • Angela says:

        Bernadette,

Thank you for you response. What a surprise for you, glad you are okay.
In response to your message, my company is going through a transformation of sorts and I am also pregnant. ? I am hoping the change either way is for the good. I hoping to speak to an intuitive soon in regards to both.

        • Bernadette King says:

          Hello, Angela;

You are most welcome! Funny you should mention speaking to an intuitive because I’m a professional psychic medium. 😉 My Spidey Senses tell me both will go great! And, on the job front, the company transformation spells surprises for you that leave you smiling and wondering, “Where did that come from?” 😉

          Hope that helps.

          Stay wild,
          Bernadette
PS – Feel free to read about my psychic medium work and let me know if I can help you navigate the coming changes. 🙂

          • Angela says:

Bernadette, my apologies I didn’t realize. I will be in contact with you.

          • Bernadette King says:

            Hi, Angela!

OMG! No apology necessary! WhatIsMySpiritAnimal.com is not really designed to be about ‘the woo-woo’ so many readers have no idea that I’m a professional psychic medium. And, even still, I always encourage folks to get readings with whatever reader they feel most energetically drawn toward. It’s SO important to have that connection!

            Stay wild,
            Bernadette

  9. Desire'e Gabrielle Baptist says:

    Hello there,
I was compelled to take my daughter, and my self hiking. We were having a Wonderful time and I was kind of rushing to the top when I heard a rattle right next to my ankle, and I jumped, and was surprised and frightening to see a coiled up rattlesnake. As frightening as I was we stopped and watched it cross the path before one minute later I seen a Yellowish Green bigger snake in the tree strength out staring at us on the path I was going to take, that I then decided to take another path to the top on the mountain. Once we made it to the top, we soaked in the beauty of the view. I decided to go a different way down the mountain since already encountering 2 snakes on our path, when I heard another rattle and screamed because another rattlesnake was 3 inches away from my ankle again!!! The snake began to follow us on our path so I turned around towards the way we sort of came up the mountain, and ran down the whole path due to fear of encountering another snake on our path. Lastly when we came close to reaching our car, a big beautiful hawk I believe swooped down and picked up a snake and carried it off. This was my first snakes encounter and would love some guidance and possible interpretation of what they were trying to tell us, Thank You so much for your time Love always and Forever,

    Desire’e Gabrielle Baptist

    • Bernadette King says:

      Hello, Desire’e;

Wow! That is a seriously powerful encounter with Snake energy! Because of both my zodiac sign (Scorpio – ruled by Scorpion, Snake and Eagle) and my Chinese zodiac sign (Snake) – I know lots and lots about Snake symbolism and meanings! LOL

Lots of snakes are on the move right now. Yes. Some of this is due to weather – they are reptiles now seeking warmth as the cooler weather moves in. Here in Florida, Snakes rushed to get away from Hurricane Matthew this past weekend.

But, those of us in the world of spirituality and metaphysics, believe it’s due more to all the turbulent changes going on in the world. Snakes are responding to those vibrations.

Now, Rattlers are particularly aggressive Snakes. To meet up with two in the same day tells me that the animal spirit guides are really trying to get your attention. Because the Hawk carried one of the Snakes into the sky, my feeling is that all the world changing that you’ve been talking about and dreaming of getting involved in should start NOW! No more waiting. It’s time to get moving and effect those changes in the world that you wish to see.

      Hope that helps!

      Stay wild,
      Bernadette

      • Desire'e Gabrielle Baptist says:

Thank You so much for your insight on thing’s! I have known my life and situation needs to change, and I have been procrastinating, and making excuses, and after my snake encounters I am ready and willing to listen to what the animal spirit’s are trying to tell me. God Bless You Always and Be safe in Florida!

        • Bernadette King says:

          Hello, Desire’e;

You are most welcome! Change is hard but I know you are going to do great because you’re animal spirit guides told you so! Go, sister! You got this!

          Stay wild,
          Bernadette

  10. Maritza says:

I had a dream of lots of snakes I was walking and the snakes were just passing next to me they didn’t even bother me, then after a while one showed up in my patio it was a red-bellied 5 1/2 I pushed out of my patio it was a full grown one I’m not fun of snakes and she gave me a little run a around but she finally left to the next door patio in 16 years that I live here this is the first time I see a snake I don’t know if this is a message that was she bought to me, could you tell me if this is a message.
    Thank you so much

    • Bernadette King says:

      Hi, Martiza;

Dreams about Snakes are all about transformation and sexuality. So, I’m wondering if you are feeling ‘overlooked’ in the romance department. Perhaps you’re lacking passion (the color red) in your life?

      Hope that helps!

      Stay wild,
      Bernadette

  11. Susan says:

I find it so strange that the snake is my spirit animal, because I am so freaked out by snakes. I mean FREAKED out! Just thinking about coming across one makes me want to weep. I’m also, ironically, a wood snake born 1965.

So several days ago the electricity went out in our neighborhood at dusk, so my husband and I grabbed our flashlights to go outside and see if it was the entire neighborhood without electricity or just us. We stood in the street for a few minutes and then decided to head back inside and as I neared the front door I saw a snake. Don’t know what kind because they all fall under one category in my book: Scary as sh!t! I ran in the other direction, stood in the middle of the street, cried for a minute, caught my breath, and then ran around the other side of the house to come back in. I’ve hardly been outside since. (The last time I saw a snake prior to that was 8 years ago and it frightened me so much I didn’t go outside alone for months. Everything in my yard died because of it.)

Anyway back to my most current sighting. Since then every night as I go to bed and am falling asleep pictures of snakes pop into my head. I immediately replace those pictures with things I love like flowers, babies, beautiful scenary, etc., and I doze off. But last night I actually dreamt about snakes. I was inside a house and was looking out a window to an old shed, and on the old shed’s roof were 3 snakes. I didn’t panic in my dream, I just became determined to find my husband and let him know there were snakes on the shed, so I spent most of my dream looking for him. At the end of the dream, my daughter came in the house after taking our dogs outside to potty, and when I looked down I realized one of the dogs had a small snake on her. The snake fell off, I told me daughter to keep an eye on the snake and that I would handle it. Then I woke up.

Any ideas on what my dream could mean? Or why almost every night I see snakes as I doze off? Or why I am so scared of them that just thinking about them can make me cry?
    Thank you!!

  12. Lynn says:

In the last 6 months I’ve had two baby snakes on my patio and I’m not sure what that means an in-between time I’ve got really sick and spent 14 days in the hospital so I’d like to know your Insight thank you

    • Bernadette King says:

      Hi, Lynn;

First, I’m sending tons of healing energy to you! Next, the animal spirit guides have already sent healing energy to you because Snakes are the ultimate symbol of healing. It might help if you read my article “Dreams About Snakes – The Complete Guide”. You’ll discover many reasons Snake energy presents itself to us. And, most of us in the world of woo woo believe that our waking life is actually the dream and our dreamtime is actually ‘real’ life.

All that said, intuitively I feel like you’ve been extremely tired and overworked (even prior to going in the hospital). When baby animal spirit guides show up, it’s often a reminder to have some fun – to see though the eyes of a child! So, go do something fun! Relax! Laugh! Eat your favorite food from when you were a kid! Your body can’t heal if your spirit is bogged down in adulting. 🙂

      Hope that helps!

      Stay wild,
      Bernadette

  13. Aj says:

    Hello,
A beautiful ball python appeared in my patio and it kept staring through the sliding door at us and then it left. We called animal control and by the time they got here it was gone. The next day we came home after a long day and it appeared in front of our condo this time. I don’t understand out of so many condos and doors around us, why would it keep coming towards our place? Is it a scent that kept attracting it or some sort of an energy? I am sure this means something!

    • Bernadette King says:

      Hi, Aj;

Snakes are extremely discerning animals. Because this reptile keeps appearing at your door there is a reason for it. Is someone there studying or considering being a healer? Does anyone in the household need healing of some kind? Is your family very spiritual? There are many reasons a Python may be attracted to the energy in your household. Ask the Snake to show you why it seeks out your family. The message will be subtle but it will appear.

      Hope that helps.

      Stay wild,
      Bernadette

      • Aj says:

Thank you Bernadette for the response,

No one is studying or considering being a healer. I pray ocasionally but I don’t really consider myself very spiritual. How do I ask the snake to show me why it seeks out my family? The animal control has taken her for now.

        • Bernadette King says:

          Hello, Aj;

Without knowing anything more about your family, what I can offer is that Snake energy is really powerful stuff. Serpent energy is ancient and is prevalent in myth and lore throughout all cultures. Snakes represent death and rebirth, complete transmutation. Since nobody in your home is “spiritual” or on a path to becoming a healer, perhaps Snake energy came to tell you it’s time for radical change.

You can ask Snake to come to you in your dreams, in the form of a song, movie, book – even in a casual conversation with a friend or family member. You’ll know when the message is sent. Animal energy is unmistakable.

          Hope that helps.

          Stay wild,
          Bernadette

    Hi Bernadette ,
Today I drive a motorcycle when behind truckloads of bamboo snake suddenly fell in my hands and then I stop my bike and the snake fell off the bike and my hand away from me. snake was small, long and greenish. I do not know the type of snake. what it means to this incident and what message delivered snake on me. Thank you very much

    • Bernadette King says:

      Hello, Kamajaya;

Since you read all about Snake symbolism and meaning, you know this is a great omen! Since the Snake was green, this could mean you might see a little luck with some increased abundance. Also, green is the color of the heart chakra. So, does your heart need some healing right now? If so, focusing on Snake medicine and energy can help heal a broken heart.

      Hope that helps.

      Stay wild,
      Bernadette

  15. Nthabiseng says:

I had a dream about a snake. A yellow python. I was terrified when i saw it and quickly shut my door. I have been struggling with depression and emotional breakdowns and I really want to be happy. i don’t know what does this mean?

    • Bernadette King says:

      Hello, Nthabiseng;

With your permission, I’ll send tons of love and healing energy to you. It’s wonderful to read that you ‘want’ to be happy! This is a first great step toward conquering your depression.

Lately, many people have asked me about Snake dreams. So, I put together a ‘complete guide’. Click and visit my sister-site (BuildingBeautifulSouls.com) and read “Dreams About Snakes – The Complete Guide to Snake Dream Symbols & Meanings”. Also, take note of the color yellow. Yellow is the color of the Sacral Chakra. Click and read all about the Sacral Chakra Symbolism and Meanings.

All that said, Snake dreams are extremely powerful because they mean BIG transformation and healing are headed toward you. Always, remember, Snakes are not able to move backwards. They can only go forward. So, whenever you feel like you might be going backwards, invoke Snake energy as your power animal and keep moving ahead! You’re gonna do great! I just know it!

      Hope that helps.

      Stay wild,
      Bernadette

  16. Pritam says:

Hi, I have seen black snake few days back but it was not a Cobra. I really do not know whether it is good or bad sign.

    • Bernadette King says:

      Hello, Pritam;

Even when Spirit Animals show up to warn of something unpleasant – it’s still a good sign. After all, forewarned is forearmed. But, take some time and meditate on this Spirit Animal encounter. As Snake to come to you and let you know its messages.

      Hope that helps.

      Stay wild,

What could be the possible interpretation for this?

    thank you in advance…

    • Bernadette King says:

      Hello, Mizp;

When we are confronted by an animal we are afraid of, it’s a call from the animal spirit world to face our fears. What is it you fear most about Snakes? Why? Take some time and really consider the teachings of Snake as a Spirit, Totem, and Power Animal. What parts resonate most with you. Once you discover this, you’ll know what fears it’s time to face and heal.

      Hope that helps.

    Hiya,
I had a really prominent dream last night where I was traveling in a car with two gentlemen who were openly talking about murdering someone. I stayed quiet in the dream but remembered thinking, “how can they discuss this without any emotion? Is this normal?” Today, a snake slithered over my feet. Surprisingly, I wasn’t afraid. I called for help and the pool man located the snake under the couch and killed it. I felt upset that he killed it, but he told me it was the only option; so I said I understood. The only thing is, the snake wasn’t fully dead yet – it was transitioning out of its body and into the spirt world – and I intuitively feel like I was the right of passage to allow this to happen. The pool guy then asked me if he could take it outside, I said he could. Afterwards, the villa lady was thanking me and we shared a hug. I felt like it was a really powerful transmission and download of energy. I was wondering if there are any insights you could offer after reading this? Thank you so much. Still processing.

    Hi,
My mother has always been terrified by snakes. I grew up very close to her, and as I get older I get more scared on snakes too. what happened to me was not a dream, so I am looking to find some meaning with your help. I have been dating a guy for a couple of years now. He is an actor and a peculiar person. During this past weekend, we were chatting and talking… as I was looking into his eyes, I felt trapped by his gaze… all of a sudden I had this feeling that I was looking into the eyes of a snake… the eyes were glowing and had that piercing feeling. I became paralyzed, so I didn’t even asked him what he was thinking. I am not sure what it could mean. Now that the relationship seems to be actually growing, I felt terrified. Any direction into understanding this better would be really helpful. thanks.

      Hello, Tatiana;

Apologies for delayed reply. Was away at a master mediumship development workshop with the incredible Janet Nohavec!

First, it could really help you to read the Dreams About Snakes artitcle at my sister-site, BuildingBeautifulSouls.com

Next, I encourage folks to honor their gut feelings. If you had seen him morph into a Snake but weren’t terrified, that would be one thing. But you ‘became paralyzed and terrified’. Those are feelings you might want to really examine before you commit any more of your time to this man.

      Hope that helps.

      Stay wild,

I have been working on identifying my chakra spirit animals. They all came so easy except throat would not not come! It took 3 weeks for it to show up,”Snake” it was all bright white except a bit of blue down its back. Snake came to me in a dream on the night of the wolf full moon! I got really sick dizzy and it drained all of my energy I would hardly walk for a day! I am fine now but wonder what this could mean for me!

  23. Hira says:

Hi Bernadette: I recently dreamt that I was in a classroom sitting at a desk and there was snake under each foot, under the right foot was a white snake and under the left foot was a darker looking snake with what appeard to be lines on it. There was a teacher of some sort, curly read hair and she was smiling alluded to the fact that I should put each snake in a plastic bag and put each foot in each bag on top of each snake. I did and the snakes began to come out of their bag and move up each leg and I was feeling the snakes’ stings as they were moving up my leg. Eventually I couldnt handle it and I managed to get the snakes off of me. I felt that the white one posed no threat. When I got it off of my leg it was limp almost deadlike and I was able to put it back in the bag and tie the bag. The darker one was more difficult to remove. When I did at first it was a slender long snake and it poised itself like a cobra would when ready to attack. I threw a white handkerchief on its head and then grabbed it and grabbed another plastic bag and as I was putting it in the bag it began growing bigger and fatter and as I was placing it in the bag it began to open its mouth and its fangs appeared and they were large as well. It looked like it wanted to attack and bite me. I manage to put this snake in the bag as well and was careful to tie the bag in a knot all the while the snake’s mouth was open, fangs appearing, and I was thinking I hope it doesnt bite me. Then I woke up. Can you shed some light into this dream? I would appreciate it. Thak you in advance.

Living where I do I know around October of every year we have to be aware of snakes as it is their breeding season. October, November, December and January now passed – not one sighting. However over the past 4 weeks I have seen 4 snakes, 3 of them were brown snakes and the one today slithering down the window in front of me – was a green snake. My first thoughts conjure up moments of panic and fear but when the moments pass, I try to look beyond the fear and find a message. Since the beginning of 2017 I’ve felt that time is moving faster for some reason, I feel I have to consciously breathe to alleviate anxiety as my energy levels fluctuate wildly. Am I avoiding or missing messages?

    Hello,
I enjoyed reading your article and found it very insightful and would like some advice please
I’ve been visited by a black snake on the 27/3/14 it came into my court yard and stared directly at me for a long time, yet I had no fear of this snake
3 years to the day today the 27/3/2017 a black snake came into my courtyard and was banging its mouth/nose on the glass door which got my attention, again I had no fear but more curious than anything else and I was wondering if you knew what this symbolises epesically the exact date I thought was very interesting thank you

  30. NatNic says:

    I hope you’re still responding to questions…

Today at about 10:50 am ET in Atlanta, GA I saw a large black snake. I was holding my 21/2 (boy) and 31/2 (girl) year old’s hands as we were walking from a parking lot, toward the sidewalk to go in a building for baby girls dance class even as we rounded the corner I saw the snake on the side walk. I screamed and jumped back at the same time while watching the snakes movements. I didn’t turn my back immediately. What I saw was the snake curve (not coil) itself (think wavy like an S) and jump sideways into the shrubbery. I was terrified, my heart was racing, and I had a vice grip on my little ones wrists as we rushed to the other end of the building for entry. I notified the people in charge in the building and they went and checked but the snake was gone by that point. I’ve been reading today on symbolism and signs and would like to know just intuitively what you think this means. To be clear I do not like snakes of any variety and do not believe they are a sacred totem for me. I’ve been an animal lover all my life — just not them along with a few others. I’ve pet parented dogs and fish. I believe this experience means something especially the sideways motion as it continues to stand out. I hope you can offer some insight.

    • spiritanimals says:

      Hello, NatNic;

      These are great questions and ones I’m often asked. Basically, what you’re asking is;

      1. Why did a Snake show up for me even though I don’t like them?
      2. I don’t believe Snake is a “sacred totem” (Spirit Animal) for me but I’m really affected by it’s appearance in my path – what does this mean?

      1. For the record – I do not believe in coincidences or accidents of any kind. Having an animal that we don’t resonate with show up in our path always means it’s time to look at the shadow self via that animal spirit guide’s teachings and medicine. In this case, Snake was moving forward (the only way they can move other than side to side). My guess is there’s a situation or person you are trying to decide about moving away from but the going forward is tough – it’s not making you happy at all. Sometimes, we have to move forward – no matter if we zig zag a bit, we are still moving forward and must honor that.

      2. At the end of the day, Spirit, Totem, and Power Animal all means the same thing. But, here, I break them down into 3 ‘categories’ to better help folks understand and work with animal spirit guides. So, I define ‘Totem’ as the animal(s) you are at the core – your soul. Snake appeared as your Spirit Animal – the animal you need to learn from at this time – especially since the encounter affected you on such a visceral level.

Finally, energetically it seems like you’ve got some anger ‘stuff’ going on at this time in your life. Snake might have show up to let you know it’s time to shed that skin.

      Hope that helps.

      Stay wild,
      Bernadette

      • NatNic says:

Thanks for responding, Bernadette. Your feedback illuminates things for me in ways I could not have considered. You accurately note ‘anger stuff’ and I’m duly reminded to shed that skin.

Hi, this article and comment feed has been the only thing I’ve found answers in. Last week I had three separate dreams about black snakes. In one dream it was just there in my childhood home, another it was in a cage and my grandmother was trying to pet it and in the third it was two big black snakes on the floor in a bathroom. Finally I had a fourth dream and it was a huge yellow snake. ..Fast forward to yesterday afternoon I went for a run and when I tried to avoid a puddle on the dirt path i stepped into the grass and directly on a shiny black snake. Of course I screamed and ran but it didnt hiss or bite me. It just sort of made a figure 8 motion and slithered. Now after I sort of was dumbfounded. Currently I am deployed in Iraq and most snakes here are poisonous…I guess I just don’t know what to think.

Thank you for this insightful and awakening article. I’ve always hated snakes. It’s the only animal I’ve never liked. So when, a few months ago snakes started to slither into my life, including on handbags that I fell in love with and earrings that I purchased without realizing they were snakes. My intuition told me there had to be some kind of meaning behind all of this. This came out of the clear blue. I’ve never experienced anything like it before. The gardening part of your article had me really spooked. For the past 4 months, I’ve developed this love for plants and gardening, and I used to hate it before. Now my house has so many plants. I’m a bit nervous about what next, I’ve never believed in totems. But this is a start. Thank you again.

  39. Van says:

Today the weirdest unexpected thing happened to me. I’m building my home. Today I went to visit the site to check the construction and I was talking to the architect and something fell over my head. I thought it could be a branch or piece of the tree and when I looked down at the floor, it was a snake. I just remained where I was trying to be aware that the snake wasn’t going at my direction, and the architect ran very far in a matter of seconds and I was surprised with my reaction. I’m usually afraid of snakes but this time was too much of a surprise and for some good reason I didn’t panic. It was not a dream, it was for real. I believe in signs and spiritual animals.
Anyway I was wondering if you see any meaning in this event. Thank you!

  40. Marie says:

    Hi Bernadette,
Not sure if you give anymore answers on snake subject on this webpage but would love your insight if you can.
I never ever see snakes but in the last two years I have seen numerous one. No rattlers but bull snakes which are not dangerous to humans. Each ones have been very big.
1 week ago, I went to see this small property near my rental that I am considering buying. I had a friend who is a builder look at it with me to tell me if this was worth the investing in.
At one point we stood in the yard all three of us, the owner, my friend and I, and I started to feel the ground moving underneath my feet. I looked down and I was standing on a snake!! I jumped back, out of the way not knowing if it was a rattle snake or a bull snake yet. My friend was also caught by surprise and had to jump around to get out the snakes way too.
It was pretty funny. I wasn’t scared just plain surprised and also cautious that it could have been venomous but wasn’t. We watch the snake slide away from us and that was it.
I thought this was unusual. I never stood on a large snake before. He must have been half buried in the soil.
What do you think is the meaning of such event?

I am thinking it is auspicious for me to buy this little adobe home… any comment would be great! thanks… and thank you for this article, it is very helpful.

Today I stood at the windows in my living room looking out onto my front porch. First I saw one black snake slowly slithering across. I am frightened of them but I was hypnotized by it. I was so entranced by them. What does this mean??

    Hi there!
Yesterday just as it started to rain, I was lowering an umbrella on my front porch and notice a 4-5 foot reddish brown snake, a water snake I live next to a creek, crawling up the side of my house. He/she went up towards the roof but remained under the eves of the house. I could see it from inside coming around behind and out from the shutter. The snake had the most beautiful curves that graced the corner of the shutter and pleasantly rested on the shutter under the eves. It rained very hard and I had a male friend whom i have had a very special sexual connection with, but have stayed apart because he us very involved with his family from his first wife and with her so I always felt like I was on the outside. I have just bought my own home next to a wildlife preserve and have manifested and created a truly beautiful peaceful place. I invited Don over and we reconnected before we both saw the snake. He wasn’t as enthused as I was. I hope for this place to be a place for kids whom i teach experiencing trauma, but I am also hoping that I can have a loving relationship with Don that is not burdened by his family. I loved reading about snake energy and feel honired that snake oaid me a visit yesterday. Thanks for tge information and may Great Spirit bless you in all you do. Sooze

My grandmother passed over a month ago. I helped care for her during her many years of suffering from Alzheimer’s. Her and my grandfather practically raised me while both of my parents worked. Last week I encountered a snake on my porch. It was slithering across a set of Adirondack chairs. My husband caught it and then released it into a drain on the street. Almost a day and half later, the snake was back and on the Adirondack chairs again! I have recently read some articles about spirits moving through nature. Most writings mention birds. Is there any symbolism with my encounter with the snake I encountered twice? I find it a bit odd to be coincidental. Is it a message from my grandmother?

Ive been seeing many animals crossing a bridge to go work out. I cross with my daughter at night. The last two days we encountered a black snake. So monday night on the way to the gym, just at the middle of the bridge I heard a hiss. I asked my daughter, did you hear that? She said yes, im in Canada and I never saw a snake in nature before, mind you its been a rainy summer. Coming home again from working out we cross this bridge by moonlight. She says mommy snake, black snake eyes. I look and see two black shiny finy eyes looking out from vines and grass in the moonlight. She says mom it hissed its tongue out at me like this! And she mimicks sticking her tongue out. Now last night we go back to the gym, on our way even before the bridge by grass thats been mowed but left there a snake slithers axross the sidewalk, she steps on it lightly, then I finally see it slither away into the dense grass. Its so pretty black and silky looking. What does it mean? We said sorry to the snake because ive heard ofvpeople being cursed for hurting them…

I would like to inform about an incident that happened today in the morning.I accidentally stepped on a cobra snake (a young one).Luckily, nothing happened to the animal as it kinda slithered between my 2 toes/fingers…so, I am happy for that. But, the reason I am here is that I am from a strict hindu background and belief. So, I am really not sure that if this is a good omen or not so good omen…I would request you to please respond as this thought is disturbing me a lot..since the morning.

    Kind regards,

I did not read all of the other comments, so I do apologize if someone else in a similar situation reached out for guidance. I will try and keep this as short as possible.

I have seen two different psychic mediums, and both have told me that I am very psychic and my third eye is open. Lately I have been doing a LOT of research on this topic and just earlier today, while in the shower, I asked my deceased grandmother and my spirit guides to give me a sign that I should move forward and continue trying to use my psychic abilities. I have always had a connection to the spirit world, I see, hear and feel signs all the time and just have this instant knowledge that I’m making the connections correctly.

Anyway, after asking for a sign that I’m on the right path, and will I be able to help people in the future with my gifts, a few hours later I saw a snake. I am very scared of snakes, they give me the creeps. So I googled “spiritual meaning for seeing a snake in real life” and came across this page.

How would you interpret this sign? I feel that it means I should move forward and persue this part of myself. Just wanted another opinion. Thanks.

Hi.. i’ve beem searching about snakes linking to psychic phenomena for many months now. I began to have this curiosity after this animal began to appear after doing a divination a couple of years ago. I did a divination on myself to discover my animal spirit guide. A woman with a long hair braided in two parts appears. At the ends of each braided hair appears a snakes (a total of two snakes). At that very moment i was convinced that the snakes were my animal spirit guide.

Last May of this year, it was early morning while having a coffee at the kitchen, i was distructed by noise, a plastic wrapper crippling noise, i began to look for it. In just a second or two i was shocked on what i’ve found.. it’s a snake climbing up on a wrapped umbrella hanging on a rod. I saw the snake on top of that rod. The rod happens to be adjacent to the restroom door of my parents. Its a second entry be door on the kitchen to my parents restroom and bedroom. After seeing that snake, i got terrified, i felt some fears then got curious of does it truly means… For week, i have received a lot of signs and i ignored some of it though many questions runs through my mind intuitively. The night before that week ends, my father passed away. He had a heart attack, utterance of degrading words by his co-public servant triggered his heart to be on stressed.

During the wake, everything that happens that appears before me flashbacks. Every details came out to be related to my father’s death.. i felt a big regret of not paying attention on the clues given to me. I could have solve that forthcoming puzzling event and do whatever things that might change it..

Hope you could give me some words of enlightenment about my extra ordinary experience on animal spirit guide..

When I was a early teenager I used to have dreams of a big snake who lived in my backyard. He could talk and he told me things. I do not remember them, but there were a lot of these dreams. I was always fascinated by snakes and had different experiences. I became a serious meditator and loved to walk the wooded areas.

When I walked, I walked the main trails. As the season became warmer and more hikers came, I would walk deeper into the more peaceful areas. I used to see lots of snakes. I didn’t pay much attention until one day I was talking to a friend. He said he walked the same nature area and had never seen a snake in his life!

One day, I was sitting in meditation. When I opened my eyes, there were a couple of big snakes laying on the side of a creek about 10 yards away. Another day, I opened my eyes and there was a small snake about eight feet away just moving along a deck. I even saw a snake on come by about four feet away on a boardwalk in Miami Beach. I walk along and sometimes they are one foot away. I practiced many years ago walking as still as the forest, making no sound when I walk and part of it is not pounding the earth, so you don’t accidentally snap twigs.

Anyway, I decided the snake is my totem.

Early this morning I had a complex dream that ended in a warehouse and a group of us trying to escape from a huge black, magical snake that was attacking us. At one point the entire snake became engulfed in flames but still continued the pursuit. I was climbing a tall wall shop shelf in attempts to get to the door that had no stairs. Someone managed to cut the snakes head off, but it was still close to the body and the snake was able to knit it back on with purple, pulsating magic before it started to climb up the shelf after me. I started to come awake because it was my normal time to, though I tried to maintain the dream to see the outcome. The last I remembered was it rearing it’s humongous black, flaming head at me.

I just wanted to point out that Asclepius has a single snake on his staph while The Caduceus is actually the staph of Hermes which has two snakes and wings. The difference medically would be that Asclepius is the one to represent medicine and healing. The symbolism has long been confused and inaccurate in Western Culture.

  68. Ian says:

I had a strange dream about snakes last night. I was in a room or stall and I accidentally bumped into a snake (vipercobra combination I think). First I didn’t move because I saw that it seemed ready to strike. I thought it I waited it would just go away.I realized instinctively that I was wrong and took a step but the snake always attacked my previous position again and again as though confused. Deep inside I knew it couldn’t hurt me even if it did bite me yet fear and anxiety was building….then I woke up.

  69. Alan says:

I had a dream Indians tied me down and put a rattlesnake around me it crawl around and came near me biter on my left hand on my baby finger and wrist area I scream and crush it’s head and woke up screaming

    • Sue says:

Sounds like your dream is telling you that you are stronger than you think. Maybe you have been put in an uncomfortable position. The right hand represents giving and the left hand represents receiving, so you have received or will receive something unfortunate. To stop the snake biting the receiving hand, you used your initiative and crushed it’s head and relieved the situation.
Use the knowledge that you already have and trust in your abilities.

It’s been 5 days since I had this dream about a green snake which was in my bathroom and I am trying to put it in a container filled with water and putting a lid on it. In my dream I am not afraid of the snake biting me rather I am afraid that it might hurt my family, so I have to get rid of it. And when I tried putting on the lid the snake turned black. I don’t know it was a cobra or something but at that time I was focused on getting it away from my family. And then I woke up. I have been having these type of dreams since I was 6 years old. I have this fault in my kundli or something like that and I have been scared since then.

  72. Andreea says:

I was 3 days ago and I meditated for my totem animal to show in a dream or in my life. And the next morning,I woke up and because it was my birthday,my dad got me a bag with a snake on it. And then,we went to visit a pagoda(I am from romania but we were in vienam in vacantion). And it was a man with a cobra. And when I saw the snake I felt that I should go at him. And the man put it on my shoulders. And I took a picture. After the picture, the snake,is slowly getting closer to my face and looked at me. And after everyone from my groupe took a picture with it. I saw that the snake got closer to my face just with me. And I thought:,,Hm…yep…maybe…it’s just a coincidence” and when we got back at the hotel,it was a big magazine with a snake on it.
HELP! CAN THIS BE MY TOTEM ANIMAL?

  73. Breno says:

Recently I was reading on this site that two ways to determine your spirit/totem/power animal is to have it constantly appear in your charts in one way or another, and you have to basically gravitate towards it. After much research I finally reached the conclusion that mine is the snake. First water is a constant presence in my charts:

In Western Zodiac, I’m Aquarius, and though it is an Air sign, it has HUGE water influence.
In Native American Zodiac, I was born under the sign of the Otter, which is an aquatic animal.
In Chinese Zodiac, I was born in the Year of the Water Dog.
In Mayan Zodiac, my Nahual is Imox (Crocodile), which is associated with water.

What does it have to do with snakes? Snakes has always been associated with water. Then there is the whole graviting thing. You see, I don’t have a physical collection per se (yet), but most of my favorite things have an association with snakes. Here we go:

My favorite Disney villain is Jafar, from Aladdin
My favorite Hogwarts house was always Slytherin, and my favorite Ilvermorny House is the Horned Serpent
My favorite Naruto villain is Orochimaru
My favorite Mortal Kombat villain is Shang Tsung
My favorite Men of Darkness in the Lord of the Rings are the Haradrim, who have the Black Serpent as their sigil.

Also, snakes are associated with the three things that I associate with myself with: water (as elaborated above), balance (especifically Yin-Yang), and knowledge (Serpent of Eden anyone?).

And, to top it off, in Vedic astrology, Uranus, which is my dominant planet, is associated with Vasuki, the King of Nagas, which are serpentine creatures in Hinduism.

  74. Theone says:

I am looking for an answer to something I was warned about many years ago and didn’t believe until recently. Several years ago I decided to visit an online psychic and get a reading just for the fun of it. I didn’t expect much and thought it would be entertaining. The things she talked about were not relevant to anything that had been going on in my life at the time. She warned that I had a black snake around my heart keeping me from loving and being loved. Like a curse. Not believing it but playing along I asked where it came from. She said it was passed on to me from my mother. She said my life was surrounded by a dark cloud of deception and to be cautious who I trust, especially my mother. I didn’t buy into any of it. I knew my mother to be a good church going lady, active in the church and helping with the youth group and a respected member of the community. I was angry that this psychic was insulting my mom and claiming I had some type of curse given to me by her. I had written that off as nothing and never thought about it again until recently. Events of the last couple years have shown me that my mom was not the saint she pretended to be. More and more of what the psychic had told me was coming to the surface. That makes me wonder what the deal is with the black snake around my heart. What does the snake mean? Is the black snake significant in some way I can’t see? I tried finding that psychic on the site I visited all those years ago and she is long gone. Not sure where to go for advise so when I find a blog like yours I ask about things hoping someone can give me some guidance or advise.

Very surprised to learn my DOB means snake totem – I have a fear of them! what does this mean?

  76. Rachael Hunter says:

Hi Theone, this message is for you about the psychic reading you had many years ago. I am a professional psychic and medium and I have to tell you this lady was lying! There is NOT a black snake around your heart, you may have some issues with your mum, who doesn’t have issues with atleast one parent..!? But that doesn’t mean there is a curse about experiencing love. The only one with a black heart was this so called psychic.
I do what I do because I want to bring love, light and healing into the world and to be a channel for source energy. Anyone who uses fear and intimidation to make money is a charlatan and does not represent my community. Please disregard everything he/she said and live a happy life full of love 🙂

  77. lynsmagic says:

@Theone I too was once told I had a darkness around my heart and the answer was creativity, at the time my creativity was so blocked but on hearing this it was like an invisible wall was lifted.
As for your Mum, no one is truly bad just a reflection a a lesson to be learnt in the lifetime – your Mother has her own lessons and your job for her is to only reflect love and for you to find (if you haven’t already) your creative reason for being here now at this time with all these ‘stories’ going on about us and to stay divinely connected to your beautiful vibrant (that’s how I see it…”) heart.

    Power to you….

    Love and light Lynsmagic…..

    My name is Diane,
About 6 yrs ago, I stepped on a brown snake, in Florida, like a garden snake. I almost twisted my ankle doing so. I turned around to check to see what I had stepped on and there he was ready to pounce at me. He didn’t bite me but I was a bit shaken from the event.. I often wondered what the massage behind that event, was for me.
I am a Virgo and I do believe there is a reason for this experience . I thought over time I would figure it out the symbolism. Can you give me some of your thoughts. Thank you..

  79. Ana says:

Bernadette so snake energy dont know enough, but I was walking and I saw a dead snake and did not know it was a dead snake then on that walk I was making sure I would not get near a snake and then I bumped into a lady who told me she had killed I think 7 snakes and I kept saying I would be good and then I stepped on a snake and got scraped by one not entirely bitten, her fang just slit me a bit. I kept calm but then once other people found out they freaked me out and I went to the ER. I know this was not a coincidence and I am extremely spiritual and love energy medicine. I was actually walking trying to ground myself to become more intuitive and intune with the land. It just in a matter of me not looking down I almost got bitten fully. Let me know your insight I am in a time of wanting more awareness and actually self loving myself to get where I want to go. Let me know what you think about my experience I would really appreciate your insight. Thank you my birthday is 10/23/1988 so I am the year of the Earth Dragon and I consider myself very wise with many experiences than the average for my age. I have studied with Angels and like I said I am aware everything is energy and I am blessed the snake just scraped her fang on me and made just like a small scrape the luck of a Dragon I tell you I am and my spiritual wisdom of inclination with God. This experience happen 5-5-2020

Yesterday in a Royal Park, my partner spotted a small (grass?) snake lying still just off the path we were on. As we looked at it, it started to move towards me. I stayed still while it glided over my left foot, crossed the path and went off into the grass. This seemed rather unusual, so I searched for it’s symbology and this page was the top result. Incidentally, my understanding is that the Asclepius staff has a single snake, whereas the Caduceus with two snakes is to do with Mercury the messenger God. Thanks for this.

  81. Nani says:

Had a very intense dream of handling and being bitten by a black mamba snake. Begun a little research and was reminded of two other visits by native serpents in my waking life. Now I understand the message more clearly. Thank you for this. It is very useful information. Blessings.

Oh my god! You have such a precious blog! Thank you very much for your works! I have a cobra as my guide from my grandma’s side(yes, there was quite a black witch in her family line, which is descending from Iran, so, I guess, it is no surprise). My personal totem animal is a swan, but it feels like this snake protects him (it is a male swan, very timid and not sociable:(, but I’m working on it. Could I ask you to write something about Gorgon Medusa? I know that she is a powerful protector of women and one of symbols of modern feminism, but it would be super cool to read something from you on this matter!
