Aroooo, Wild Ones!
In the “spiritual community” (whatever that is) the debate rages about whether humans can be classified as Spirit Animals. That argument tends to take up so much time folks never get around to deliberating the notion of humans as Totem and Power Animals. Because of my work with the Animal Allies and animals in general, I’m often asked my thoughts on this matter.
Now, I’m a pretty simple country girl. I often say our most valuable ‘sense’ is common sense. So, first, let’s take a look at the facts based on science:
As you can see humans are, indeed, classified as animals. One would think this evidence in and of itself should be enough to conclude, “If humans are animal then by definition of course humans can be Spirit, Totem, and Power Animals.” It’s enough for me but…over the years I’ve observed that when it comes to Spirit Guides of any kind, Angels, and other messenger types people want to make things far more complicated than they actually are. It seems so difficult for them to accept visitations from the other side as natural. They simply won’t ‘believe’ unless it seems mystical, magical, and highly unusual – like they’ve been specially chosen to be able to experience these encounters. Both the desire to be ‘special’ and the want to be involved in magical and mystical experiences often keeps them from getting the very love, support, and guidance they so desperately want from their guides. Magical and Mystical Spirit Guide Visitations
I love the magical and mystical just as much as the woo wooer. However, when my spirit is in true need – when I’m terrified, lost, confused – I don’t want to ‘hope’ that magical Spirit Guide is going to appear in a poof of glitter. I need backup and I need to be able to trust that backup is real and not a figment of my imagination. I need intel that is going to keep me safe. Case in point…
In 2019 I almost died. It was a combo of different types of Spirit Animals that literally saved my life. Meaning, humans and other animals.
Before all that craziness went down I was so sick. Y’all – I was in and out of doctor’s offices like you can’t believe. I could barely walk. My sister had to live with me and pretty much carry me everywhere. One day I came out of my Rheumatologist’s office in a complete state of shock – like, about to have a heart attack shock. He’d told me that since I had all these symptoms but the labs for autoimmune didn’t prove anything conclusive I was going to have to start a battery of tests for hidden and likely fatal cancer. With the wind knocked out my sails I couldn’t make it to the check out counter. I propped myself up against a wall, closed my eyes, and asked my mom to show me what was going to happen. I was OK with whatever the outcome was going to be but I can’t stand not knowing.
After the shaking subsided, I staggered to the checkout counter. A glimpse of blue caught my eye. Turning my head I saw…
That’s when I knew. Things were going to suck for a while but ultimately I would be OK. How did a cup tell me that? My maiden name is Carter. My mother was a nurse (healthCARE). Her favorite color was blue. It’s an insulated cup which I interpreted as she had me wrapped up in her mother’s spirit of protection. It was just a matter of a few minutes from when I walked out of the doc’s office to the checkout counter. The cup was waiting for me. Mom, as my Spirit, Totem, and Power Animal, already knew what was going to transpire. From the other side she orchestrated this ‘magical’ encounter.
In February of 2020 I was still recovering from the near death experience of October 2019. Valentine’s Day was coming up and I was being a bit of a baby that I didn’t have a partner. My sister helped saved my life and is the best caretaker anyone could have but I was missing having my person to snuggle up with in the middle of the night. I’m sure you understand.
Laying in bed one morning, absolutely dreading the bone density test I had to have because of the high levels and long term use of Prednisone, I asked my mom to show up because I needed some extra luv. Hobbling into the X-ray department, I glanced at the check-in counter and saw…
Mom heeded my call. My Spirit, Totem, and Power Animal struck again! As a kid my favorite animal was the Panda Bear – like, from the time I could say “Bear” till I was in my late 30’s when it changed to Grizzlies and Russian Brown Bears. Again, mom knew I would need her. From the other side she orchestrated the young lady behind the counter getting a Panda Bear/heart/I love you balloon from her hubby. To the best of my understanding it takes tremendous energy for souls on the other side to create these scenarios. Grateful to my mom doesn’t even begin to cover it.
If you see these happenings as mystical and magical – cool. But I see them as a manifestation of belief. I give my pledge to the world of Spirit Guides to trust them and they show up for me and my clients every, single time.
Now let’s talk about something that is gonna’ ruffle some feathers…
The Desire to be Special
Mostly I laugh at people’s quirks. Gosh knows I have enough of my own and laugh at myself on a daily basis. Well, guffaw really. Through teaching thousands of psychic, mediumship, and Shamanic journey students I can easily spot those are just doing this because they want to be part of the cool kid’s club. Oh how these suck-all-the-air-out-of-the-room show-boaters chomp at the bit to tell how unique they are. They want everyone to know they are part of the chosen few that God bonked on the head declaring, “YOU are the anointed one! Go forth in your expensive spiritual garb, walk among the commoners, and wow them with your next level psychic mediumship abilities!” Funny thing is, they can’t manifest a damn thing and can’t read their way out of a paper bag.
While that might sound amusing it’s the saddest thing ever. Here’s why…
The world needs as many honest, ethical, tapped in psychic medium, Shamanic journeying, healers as it can get. It’s a numbers game. There are a zilliondy souls on the other side who want with all their heart to be there for their loved ones. As a tapped in lightworker whose intent is authentic we shine the light so others can come to understand that support from the other side is their divine right – it’s nature. Can you imagine what this world would be like if more people didn’t get bogged down by whatever it is they are bogged down by? What if people trusted, deep, deep in their spirit that their Spirit, Totem, and Power Animals, Angels, Spirit Guides, and more would show up any time they asked. Like this…
The Biggest Reasons Humans Can be Your Spirit, Totem, and Power Animal
Though I wholeheartedly believe souls speak the same language it could be hypothesized that Lion Spirit, Totem, or Power Animal you so resonate with may not understand you the way your own pack, flock, and tribe does. Interspecies friendships are well documented. But I’m thinking that Lion Animal Ally may not understand why an insulated cup has meaning for you or that the Panda Bear balloon would make you feel so loved and supported. But your loved ones will. All that said, this is just a theory. It’s what I believe. To hard core science people, believing something doesn’t make it true. To metaphysicians like you and me, we understand that we create our own reality. I believe my mom is one of my Spirit, Totem, and Power Animals and she shows up in the most beautiful ways. Not just sometimes. Every time.
Finally, though this article is based on my personal experiences, I can report my accuracy as a psychic medium, Shamanic practitioner is purely based on my belief that messages from the other side are as natural as the sun rising in the morning and setting in the evening.

Great article! I recently lost a dear friend unexpectedly. She showed up immediately with signs/messages to help me deal with the loss so I could also help the rest of our team by sharing the incredible signs she sent proving she was still with us. Interesting topic of can humans be power Animals
We’ve started to get a couple of pets come through for people just pets nothing else and the messages have been correct this has been brushed aside by some of my teachers who found it amusing I think but to me a soul is a soul no matter what shape it is
and has such return to the collective consciousness

I’m really sorry you are having that experience with teachers. At this point I’ve read over 35K people and taught thousands in classes. That’s a great deal of data for me to draw from. I can tell you that clients never cry harder than when their beloved pet comes through and students are never more encouraged, empowered, and amazed when they can talk to the animals. Animal medicine is incredibly powerful and healing. You didn’t ask for my opinion but I’m gonna give it to you anyway – keep up the excellent work. Don’t let the narrow minds of a few ‘teachers’ hold you back. The Animal Allies obviously have chosen to speak through you. This is an honor and a gift. Very interesting case in point. Perhapse if you look to regression hypnosis and accounts of time not being linear or even how we’re all CONNECTED… I’ve heard only part of us are here in “physical” form. The other in pure spiritual. When you get into the quantum physics with all the different levels, it makes perfect sense that humans can be considered as animals. Even plants and inanimate objects. Energy connot be destroyed. We are ALL one. We live in an illusion that everything is seperate. My two cents.

You bring up excellent points and all I considered especially given my passion for the science of metaphysics. As I see and experience more I’m really convinced we may have well spent lifetimes as a plant, vegetable, mineral, or animal. And, when you consider we share DNA pairing with many animals and plants… As I think about it, I’m not sure why I didn’t address these things in the article. Wow! Thanks for the inspiration as I think I’ll do a follow up article to this one!
