‘Tribute of Love’ Overview: Koala, Kangaroo, & Kiwi Bird
Greetings, Wild Ones! Welcome to the Spirit Animalscopes for February 2020: The Month of Love! We have an extra special, wonderful, and wise ANIMAL SPIRIT GUIDE TRIO this month as the Koala, Kangaroo, and Kiwi Bird blesses us with their Sacred Teachings, Wisdom, and Medicine!
Please note: While many of the Animal Spirit Guides have plenty of positive Wisdom and Medicine, there is one topic I’d like to address this month that’s a tragedy, but it is a situation the people of the world cannot ignore. The disaster I’m referring to is the destruction of the ecological systems and biodiversity in Australia.
The Koala, Kangaroo, and Kiwi Bird are creatures that are enduring the devastating effects of the fires ravaging the Australian bushlands all along the Eastern Coast. As of this writing, over 52,000 hectares of (just over 200 square) miles of bushlands have been destroyed to date.
The special trio of Animal Spirit Guides for this month’s overview is something I chose specifically, so I could acknowledge the grave ecological threat unfolding with all the world watching, both in horror and insufferable sadness. Current reports suggest more than a half billion of the creatures once inhabiting Australia’s bushlands have died.
It’s a heart-rending level of loss that WE and our Australian Animal Companions must face. We fully understand the catastrophic repercussions of the fires in Australia, particularly with the damage it imposes on the environment. But, it’s at the soul level that we come to understand the vital interconnectivity we share with, not just the Koala, Kangaroo, and Kiwi Bird, but all the creatures on earth. Our connection forms through the Energetic Matrix, otherwise known as the Web of Life; Once we understand our connection in this light, we also understand what humans do onto the Animals, we do to ourselves. Likewise, what happens to the earth’s creatures has an equally powerful effect on the people of the world.
Thankfully, many compassionate folks have stepped up to help, and still, many more are reaching out. Several charitable organizations exist, where people can donate funds or pre-loved goods for use when carrying for the all-too-many Animals in need. May we, in the Month of Love and well beyond, all continue to express our appreciation, respect, and love for our Animal Allies, and for those presently in danger, may we pray for their safety and healing.
Overview: Koala

When Koala enters our life as a Spirit Animal Guide, the creature comes to remind us of the importance of family connections, bonding, and physical expressions of our affections. Like the Kangaroo, Koala is a marsupial that carries its young in a pouch to keep it secure, nurtured, and comforted; here, the creature urges us to draw those we love the most as close to us as possible; to cherish them, and to enjoy, in full, the mutual expression of love. Koala incites us to protect or stand in defense of family members, friends, and lovers, but most notably for the young, all while honoring the enduring emotional bonds we establish.
Koalas have little difficulty growing comfortable with humans. In fact, in a very short time, the creature becomes trusting and affectionate. Koala says, “There’s always time for a good cuddle!” As a Spirit Animal Guide, Koala comes to us when it’s okay to let our guard down, especially when we’re feeling emotionally vulnerable, and we’re afraid of being hurt. Koala is a gentle creature, one that acts much like an innocent child, and the critter comes into our lives to encourage us to see all the world through our trusting and loving inner child’s eyes. We’ll be able to see the best in all people, particularly the purity, kindness, and loving nature people possess. Since Koala often spends time in Eucalyptus trees where it finds nourishment, it is a creature who teaches us how to view things from a different or higher perspective, especially when evaluating the status of familial and romantic relationships.

With Kangaroo as our Animal Spirit Guide, we’ll feel light-hearted, happy, and content throughout February. When this marsupial hops into our life, it’s time to “jump” on every exceptional opportunity. Many of the blessings ahead involve a chance to express or experience genuine love with another. If we haven’t told the people we care about just how much we care, Kangaroo says, “It’s time to hop to it! There’s no time like the present!”
Kangaroo carries its young in a pouch. Here, the creature symbolizes the bond between mother and child. Of course, carrying their babies nearest to their body also causes Kangaroo to represent the importance of protecting all we cherish. One of Kangaroo’s teachings tells us to hold those we love ever so close while always remembering just how much they mean to us.

New Zealand’s National Bird is none other than the Kiwi: the final main Animal Spirit for February. Diverse cultures of the region adore the Kiwi Bird, seeing it as a symbol of fidelity and love, so it makes it the perfect Animal Ally during a Month for Lovers. The Maori honor the Kiwi, seeing the Bird as a treasure or “taonga; Maori use the sacred Bird’s feathers in the cloaks they weave for the elite; here, the Bird’s feathers are a symbol of human connections, networking, and the intricacies of weaving our lives together with those we love. This month, it’s time to reveal how we feel about others. The Kiwi Bird comes into our lives when it’s time to examine matters of the heart. But the Kiwi cannot fly as it is among the smallest of ratites, making them similar to the Cassowary and Ostrich. The sheer size of your Animal Spirit Guide, the Moose, ensures you’ll stand out from the crowd this month, Sagittarius!
